Denis Mamo describes himself as a ‘Creative Ringmaster’. Drawing on his experience in advertising and marketing, Denis will give a keynote presentation on “Influencing Perceptions of Ageing”.

In a world obsessively focused on the ‘new’, how can we influence the perception of ageing? Denis Mamo, one of Australia’s most respected advertising and brand authorities, will take delegates through global and local case studies that show how powerful insights, breakthrough creativity and a touch of bravery can influence thinking and create change.

Denis Mamo is an award-winning creative director who has worked across just about every category in advertising. From soup to soap, from government to healthcare, Denis has used his talents to change behaviours and move markets.

His campaigns have helped thousands of people lose weight, give up smoking, break free from HEP C, manage their diabetes, avoid heart attacks, prevent allergies and treat coughs. In particular, projects for Aged and Community Services Australia (ACSA) and Council of The Ageing (COTA) have created awareness and helped affect change in aged care.

Denis began his career at Ogilvy Sydney where he coined ‘Rethink your third drink’ for the first Federal Drink Drive campaign and went on to win the office’s first Cannes Lion for Rosella Soup. As Creative Director at PublicisMojo and Belgiovane Williams Mackay, Denis helped Coca-Cola dominate the Olympics, designed the iconic State of Origin logo, re-established Alfa Romeo, Citroen and Kia in Australia, transformed Aussie Home Loans and raised awareness and funds for the Cerebral Palsy Alliance.

Denis joined start-up agency Ursa as Group Creative Director and Partner and helped Ursa grow into five specialist communications agencies across London, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, specialising in health, patient compliance, shopper marketing, property and graphic design. In 2010, Clemenger BBDO approached Ursa to become its health agency in Australia.

Denis has won over 100 awards at shows including Cannes, Clio, New York Festivals, D&AD, One Show, Globals, Effies and London International. He led Ursa to be the first agency to win “The Pitch” twice on ABC’s popular show ‘The Gruen Transfer’.

He has served as Chairman of Judges for AWARD and in 2014 was honoured to be an inaugural judge for Cannes Lions Health. Denis has created two campaigns currently running for the Federal Department of Health. ‘Breast Screening. It’s an invitation that could save your life’ and ‘A gift for living’ for bowel screening. His ‘Listen out for Lung Cancer’ campaign for Cancer Institute NSW has been running for over two years with continued success.

Denis is a board member of the Australian Centre for Arts and Health, the national peak body that promotes and supports arts and health and creative ageing practice and research in Australia.
